ASSISTANT PROFESSOR - ELECTRIC ENGINEER & COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT

Dr. Sophia Daskalaki is an assistant professor at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the University of Patras.

She received her Ph.D in Industrial Engineering & Operations Research from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Massachusetts (1987), M.Sc. in Statistics & Operations Research from Oregon State University at Corvallis, Oregon (1983) and University Diploma in Mathematics from the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki, Greece (1980). From 1987 till 1991 she was a Member of Technical Staff at AT&T Bell Laboratories working on performance evaluation issues of telecommunications and computer systems and networks, intelligent telecommunications services and network management.

Her current research interests include stochastic modeling with applications in finance, Internet traffic and social media, data mining techniques in forecasting and classification, optimization in scheduling and timetabling.

She is a member of INFORMS (Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences) and the Operational Research Society (ORS).
