The course is the second in the sequence of two that cover the general area of sustainable design and development. The main educational objective of the Sustainable Design course this semester is the in depth understanding of sustainable design theory and technology as well as the understanding of sustainable design principles that apply to regional and city planning projects. The structure of this course is similar to the structure of Sustainable Design 1. The lectures, presentations, exercises and design projects in the course are organized in three sections that address respectively the qualitative and the quantitative aspects of sustainable design decisions as they relate to large scale projects, and the development of a team based design project that covers all design scales and promotes a holistic design approach; the utilization of all analysis and design tools introduced in both semester is required for the development of the project .
