Homelessness is a major social issue. Designing for the homeless requires an understanding of the processes that lead to homelessness. This design thesis attempts to propose design solutions in order to facilitate the transition from homelessness to self reliance. The design of interventions is based on the consideration that the homeless goes through five stages for the reintegration into society. These stages are stuck, accepting help, believing, learning and self-reliance. The interventions for each of them, take the form of transportable, ephemeral and reversible structures using recycled materials.
