Introduction to art practice and critical visual thinking. The course interrelates contemporary art and architecture through field works in urban public space. Students study art processes through the use of technical image, time-based media, or performance, in order to bring forth latent meanings, or produce new narratives for a place. The course develops skills and knowledge for the use of different media towards the critical reproduction of space, insists on the interrelation of aesthetic form with concept and context, and addresses contemporary art concepts that are related to the anthropology of the everyday, the document and historical layering of space, participation and dialogical aesthetics. Lectures, guest presentations, in-situ visits and the study of the bibliography complement practical training.
